This collection of EIGHT receptive and expressive language flip books is perfect for students from elementary to early middle school. Each of the 8 books in this set contains an original short story around which the language (and artic!) activities below are centered. While it will obviously vary between therapists and groups, I rarely use more than one of the 8 books book per session, which means that this set will last you a whole unit if you want it to!

Asking WH Questions
Students are prompted to ask WH questions about details from the story.

Story Comprehension
-Students are asked to answer WH questions by recalling information about details in the story.
-Students are provided with an idiom in each story and asked to determine its meaning.
See below for a list of idioms included in this specific set.

Vocabulary
One entire double-page of the flip book is devoted to vocabulary. In this section, the following skills are targeted through vocabulary present in the story or other related words.
-Synonyms
-Antonyms
-Multiple meaning words
-Comparing and Contrasting
-Describing / Attributes
*Additionally, each story contains 6 targeted vocabulary words which students are asked to define

Following Directions
Using included coloring sheets, students are asked to follow multi-step (2-step or 3-step) directions and/or directions embedded with concepts, including: spatial, temporal, and quantitative concepts.

Sequencing and Past Tense
Using the sequencing tile cards which fit right into the flip book, students will sequence the 4 parts of the story in the correct order. They will then retell the story using the past tense.

ARTICULATION!
Each book provides a list of words in each story with the following speech sounds: R, S/Z, TH, SH/CH/J, and L

*Please know that this product is a complement to the Critical Thinking and Higher-Level Language Flip Books of the same theme. The stories are the same, but adjusted as needed to be appropriate for age-level, and the two comprehension activities are the same in both flip books. However, all other activities are different and it very possible to use both flip books for different skills.
