Did you know that some of the best times to build receptive and expressive language skills are during routines and every day activities? These are times that are familiar to the students, that happen frequently, and that proceed in the same sequence with the same language every time.

Some of our students need specific structured assistance to help develop their skills for activities of daily living (ADL)/ life skills. These are perfect times to build on their understanding and use of important vocabulary.

In this BUNDLE of resources you will find multiple opportunities to build language for critical nouns and verbs and, particularly, adjectives. There are also opportunities to build on sequencing skills, categorization and associations.

Work with classroom routine activities to practice newly emerging and almost mastered language skills.

In this resource there are 5 of my language in life skills products:

• What’s in My Bathroom; which has scenes to label, sequencing to complete, an interactive book to build vocabulary, and task analyses for specific routines for the bathroom.

• Dressing for the Weather; which offers multiple (skin tone) paper dolls; seasonal and locative scenes, and many clothing items to complete. There are also cards onto which students glue or velcro the correct clothing for the picture, and cards with scenarios for students to give a thumbs up or thumbs down.

• Identifying by Function; otherwise called “Where do You Find it and What do You do with It?” which has student make associations by function or category or description. There are game boards with question cards and file folder activities. There are also clip/task cards.

• Items Needed for the Task; in which students tell about which objects are needed to complete a given routine task. There are file folder activities, game with board and cards, and clip/task cards.

• Sort and Tell by Feature; with sorting mats and/or file folder activities based on critical features of items. There are many opportunities for visual assotions and language responses

• Where in the House Am I? has scenes of rooms in a house and a variety of furniture and accessories for students to put in the correct place. There is a game to play with a board and cards. There are also task cards for glueing or velcro-ing responses.
