This is a sight word emergent reader is about school rules at recess. This set includes a sight word book and colored teacher lap book that can be used for whole group instruction, small group instruction, and vocabulary development. This reader was designed with the Pre-K, Transitional Kindergarten, and Kindergarten Student in mind. They can be used to teach knowledge of basic book handling skills, color words, basic sight words, and vocabulary. I use them for guided reading groups, familiar reading, book box books, centers, and take home reading books.
Students can benefit from reading sight word emergent readers by tracking one to one, identifying spaces between words, putting together letters and sounds to make words, reading sight words in context, and reading appropriate grade level text. The black and white clip art pictures support meaning and also provides opportunities to color the pictures.
