This basic recipe is my own. It is very easy and uses simple, inexpensive, common ingredients that are available year round. It can be done on the stovetop or in the crockpot. The recipe as written teaches pre-cooking planning skills, timing skills, measuring, knife skills, defrosting meat, cutting meat, cutting into bite size pieces, and serving portions. Skill extensions would be: how to freeze meals for later, adding ingredients to bulk up leftovers, changing a few ingredients to make a completely different meal.
