These reciprocal reading guiding cards are available for you to print and laminate for your class. These are fantastic for guided, modelled and shared reading lessons.
Reciprocal Reading is a well researched strategy to assist children with making connections with what they are reading. Once children master comprehension, they are able to become fluent and accurate readers.
This resource includes two A4 pages with three instruction cards on each page.

Decides who will do each job. Introduces text and makes sure everyone is joining in.
- Predicting Prince:
Makes logical predictions using information in the text and personal experiences to predict where the text is going
- Clarifying Cryptosaurus: Identifies confusing words, sentences and ideas. Asks... How can these be solved?
- Inquisitive Indian:
Thinks what do you know, need to know or would like to know.
Who, what, where, why... then how, what if, will...?
- Summarising Sunflower

The problem was... The resolution was...
- An instructions slip detailing how this strategy works.
These cards would also work well blown up and posted around the classroom to remind students of the strategies.
