What educators are saying

My students loved their literature circles using these resources. It was very engaging and very little prep to prepare!
This has been so helpful in implementing reciprocal teaching in my 7th grade history class. I love the self and group reflection features. Thank you so much for sharing.

Description

Everything you need for a stress-free reciprocal teaching experience! This Reciprocal Teaching Tool Kit includes a complete teacher's guide, student job cards, a guided worksheet to keep students on task, group list pages, a grading rubric, peer evaluation form, and self-reflection rubric.

Printable AND Digital Formats Included!

This resource can be completed on paper or online with laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, or any device that supports Google Slides. The included Teacher's Guide includes access to the link that will allow you to make your own copy of the resource for use in Google Classroom/Google Drive.

INCLUDED WITH YOUR PURCHASE:

• Job Cards: Identify the text or section of text you want students to analyze, and read it together as a class.  When you are finished reading, break students into groups of four, and pass out a job card to each student. Within the group of four, each student will be responsible for a specific task. The questioner is responsible for formulating two questions based on the text.  The clarifier must find two unknown words or ideas in the text.  The summarizer draws a picture that represents the main idea of the text.  Finally, the predictor is responsible for predicting what might happen if the text were to continue.

• Student Group Lists: The list pages are provided for you to track and monitor student groups during the reciprocal teaching process. There is space to record each student name next to their corresponding job title as well as a quick-charting rubric for keeping track of student behavior during the lesson.

• Guided Worksheet: Each group member should have a copy of the text and the reciprocal teaching guided worksheet. Students will complete Part 1 of the worksheet independently (no talking) before moving on to Part 2. Setting a timer for ten to fifteen minutes works well for this portion of the activity. After all students have completed Part 1, it is time for the collaborative portion of the lesson, which should take about thirty minutes depending on the abilities of your students. Resetting the timer will help to keep students focused and on task.

• Reciprocal Teaching Rubric: In order to ensure students understand the expectations of the reciprocal teaching process, review the rubric before starting the lesson. There is space to track analysis, effort, behavior, and participation.

• Group Evaluation Form: The group evaluation form allows students to express how they felt about working in a group. Students are required to highlight two areas of strength and one area of weakness.

• Self Reflection Rubric: The self reflection rubric gives students a chance to record how they felt about their performance during the reciprocal teaching

process.
