Product Description
This set of ten role cards is designed for guided reading reciprocal teaching groups. This resource draws on the reciprocal teaching, student-generated questioning and comprehension strategy instruction research. Each card includes prompts to scaffold small group guided reading discussions.

Teachers may choose the number of cards (or group roles) appropriate for the size of the small group (one card or role for each group member) and the explicit teaching focus.

The cards include the following group roles: Orientating, Predicting, Reading, Clarifying, Questioning, Visualizing, Summarizing, Connecting, Inferring and Giving Feedback. The “Visualizing” and “Summarizing” cards are included with both a “z” and an “s” in the spelling, so teachers can choose the appropriate spelling for their students.

This resource is based on published research to improve reading comprehension and deep engagement with texts through higher order thinking.
