Product Description

This is a lesson that uses historical excerpts to introduce students to the leading causes of the American Civil War. Written excerpts have been modified for students who read on a lower level. Students will use these excerpts to complete a graphic organizer to compare and contrast the northern perspective versus the southern perspective on the following issues - Popular Sovereignty, Missouri Compromise, Compromise of 1850, The Fugitive Slave Act, Uncle Tom's Cabin, and Dred Scott v. Sandford. Students will need to use text evidence to support their claims.
