Product Description
Immediately following the Civil War, Southern States tried passing infamous "Black Code" laws that were blatantly racist. Black people were not allowed in public after sunset, or to meet in groups, or own guns. This assignment provides students with a simplified version of the Bill of Rights and several real examples of Black Codes. Students analyze which amendment right is being denied by each new law, and explain their decision. Always leads to good discussions afterward.
