This choice board is designed to be used in a U.S. History or African American History class following lessons or a unit on the impacts of Reconstruction after the Civil War. Have students chose one or more of the six small project options to demonstrate knowledge of the content. The project options range from scripting an interview for someone living under Southern black codes to creating a promotional brochure for the Freedman's Bureau. I usually give at least one class period for them to get started and finish for homework. This is a great alternative or formative assessment for students who are not great traditional test-takers.
