Each of the 10 Reconstruction stations has guiding questions for students to consider while viewing. Student complete a graphic organizer based on their analysis of each primary source visual.
Here’s what’s included with each complete activity set:
1. A one page Reconstruction background close reading to be read as an introduction with the class.
2. A two-page graphic organizer that students complete while viewing the Reconstruction Gallery Walk, Stations, or Resource Swap. The graphic organizer has a great closing activity that can be done as homework or in class after the investigation. In the closing activity, students defend a claim by choosing resources as evidence.
3. Ten varied primary source and secondary source documents and charts. Specifically, students analyze the political cartoons, war casualty charts, the amendments, newspaper clippings and political propaganda.
