This activity includes a 21 slide PowerPoint with a guided notes outline. The outline contains blanks throughout. As the teacher presents the PowerPoint, students fill in their outlines by using the underlined words on the PowerPoint. The activity is a wonderful way to keep students engaged and on-task while examining the key events, terms, and people of Reconstruction. Once the activity is completed, students have an excellent outline to use as a study resource.
The following Reconstruction topics are examined:
The goals of Reconstruction
Abraham Lincoln (and his assassination)
Robert E. Lee
Civil Rights Act of 1866
Key Reconstruction Policies
Election of 1876
Removal of Federal Troops in 1877
Jim Crow Laws
The PowerPoint and outline (works great with an elmo) can be used separately, but I've had the most success using them together.
