Recorder Composition Pack *remote or in-person* with rubrics
****Great for in-person learning, remote learning, and homeschooling****
The recorder is ideal for young students to play because the instrument will make a reasonable sound just by breathing normally through it—no need to start a reed vibrating, no back pressure, and the student doesn’t need to push air through five feet of tubing. It’s easy to get a good sound out of a soprano recorder quickly, and it fits nicely in small hands. As an added bonus, it’s easy to store in the classroom or carry back and forth to school.
Bookend your recorder unit with this Recorder Composition Pack. Start by showing your students what the recorder can really do, using the carefully curated videos linked in the pack. As your students move through the unit, they can take responsibility for their progress using the included troubleshooting guide. (Enlarge it into a poster and display it on the wall!)
**EIGHT OPTIONS FOR COMPOSITION**
**NINE OPTIONS FOR ASSESSMENT**
**PEER and SELF-EVALUATION**
This packet includes a range of templates to guide students through composing a piece for the recorder. Whether they are BAG players, or have more notes under their fingers, there is a version that will walk them through the composition process. There is a full set of composition sheets and assessment sheets in a 4/4 time signature, and composition sheets and assessment sheets in a 3/4 time signature.
The composition worksheet walks students through four steps. Because instructions are included on the worksheet, it lends itself to home learning / remote learning with little instruction.
