Recorder Rules! Pedagogy Posters, Flashcards, and Fingering Charts

#MusicTeacher101Manage

Recorder Rules! posters and flashcards are great visuals for teaching recorder in any elementary music classroom!

"Recorder Rules!" is what I say when we play recorder, because my students think recorders are the best! They rule!

The recorder cards/posters included are some basic ideas for hand position and tone production. I included slides for holding your recorder (airy armpits, left hand on top, etc.), finger position (fatty paddy, look for the cheerios, etc.), mouth position (click your teeth, say "ooh," etc.), tongue position (use one row of taste buds, start the air with your tongue, etc.), and air/tone production (warm air, whisper the sound, etc.).

These cards are explained in eight pages of notes (teacher tips), to get your started teaching recorder, or to give you fresh ideas if you've been teaching for years. I hope you find them helpful!

Show the full page posters on the first day of recorder instruction - review them quickly each week and print them to create a binder for students that arrive after the first weeks of instruction.

I included flashcards with short phrases to post in your classroom as reminders when playing recorder. "Parts of the Recorder" and fingering flashcards (middle C to top space E) also included. Each set is in full color and ink friendly.

Don't miss the "Teacher Tips" pages - detailed instructions for each of the phrases and tricks for recorder behavior management (including the always popular "Penalty box").

Included:
Parts of the Recorder diagram
Hold Your Recorder (with and without strap)
Finger Position
Mouth Position
Tongue Position
Air/Tone Production
Catchy Phrase Flashcards (things I'm always repeating - now I can just point!)
Fingering Flashcards (middle C to top space E, plus alternates)
Teacher Tips (8 pages of notes to help you teach recorder!)
