This is a lesson plan complete with arrangement for recorders and Orff ensemble. I created this lesson to teach my 4th grade recorder students how to play the "special" recorders (the sopranino and alto recorders). By adding the extended voices to recorder consort, we are able to play in harmony. This lesson explores harmony through performance. The arrangement includes the following parts: sopranino, soprano 1, soprano 2, alto, tenor, bass xylophone, glockenspiel. Along with the complete arrangement is also individual parts for sopranino, soprano 1, soprano 2, and alto recorders. Included in the lesson plan are detailed tips and ideas for teaching these "special" transposing recorders to young students! Very successful, lots of fun, and super extendable! Use your imagination and creativity!
