Your students will love to learn about how to recycle with this fun sorting game! I like to teach a unit on Earth Day and good ways to keep our planet healthy. Prior to the activity, we talk about good ways to keep how the Earth healthy, and how to recycle different materials. As a whole group, we sort the pictures into categories (paper, plastic, aluminum and glass), and then I set it out as a science center activity. I have included a color version and a black and white version, which can be easily printed and colored to look like the color version, as well as a recording sheet to hold your students accountable for their work. There are four sorting mats: paper, plastic, aluminum and glass and 12 pictures for sorting. The following pictures are included:
Plastic: plastic bottle and water bottle.
Paper: box, cereal box, milk carton, newspaper, paper ball, and toilet paper roll.
Aluminum: can and soda can.
Glass: glass bottle and jar.
I hope you and your students enjoy this sorting game!
