Product Description

Great for parties. Puzzle games are brain stimulating problems that test one’s ingenuity. Puzzle games boost brain power which makes them a proper choice for use for educational purposes besides just providing mere entertainment.

These sheets were made specifically to be cut to pieces. Kids love cutting things, and the patterns printed on these sheets will give them valuable practice with using their hands in complex ways. Encourage them to cut out the pieces by turning the paper with one hand and keeping the scissors straight, rather than turning the scissors while cutting.

The cutting activities get increasingly difficult as the pages progress and move from simple straight lines to curves and zigzags. All cutting activities require students to cut from the edge and stop 'at a point'. These are essential activities before students attempt learning to cut a complete shape.

THE ADVANTAGES OF PLAYING PUZZLE GAMES

Puzzles are an important educational learning tool for toddlers and young children as they provide many skills and mental learning benefits and opportunities.

Benefits of Playing with Puzzles:

Improve IQ: Research states that solving puzzles helps raise the IQ (intelligence quotient) level of the player. Puzzles force the solver to think and reason. They force the player to use their general knowledge, memory, spatial imagery, logic and problem-solving skills. The intellect sharpens by learning how to overcome challenges.

Improve Cognitive Ability: Puzzles come in a whole range of themes and topics such as alphabet letters, shapes, vegetables, numbers, pets, transport and colors. It increases their visual spatial awareness and develops a deeper understanding of these themes and topics. All children learn differently and puzzles may be their medium for grasping an understanding of certain themes such as alphabet letters. In children, puzzles enhance their ability to visualize and understand the whole-part relationship. Certain subject areas can also be enhanced through the use of these games such as learning and recognizing the alphabets, colors, shapes, numbers and various categories that objects may belong to. In adults, the advanced level of puzzles such as mathematical puzzles, Sudoku, Scrabble, etc. enhance their language skills. Crosswords and word games increase the vocabulary, spelling and research skills.

Improve Problem Solving Skills: Since the goal of solving any puzzle is to find a solution to a problem, puzzles help improve the critical thinking ability of an individual. The child or adult learns patience, determination, and organization i.e., how to break big and complex problems into smaller and easily solvable portions. A sense of accomplishment is achieved when an individual solves a puzzle. This also helps boost the confidence level of a child or adult in his/her ability to solving problems or taking up challenges. Completing a puzzle, even the simplest of puzzles set a single goal to achieve. Toddlers and children must think and develop strategies on how to approach in achieving this goal. This process involves problem-solving, reasoning skills and developing solutions which they can later be transferred into their personal/adult life.

Improve Concentration: Concentration is required to solve a brainteaser. Therefore puzzles can help increase the attention span of both adults and children. By varying the difficulty level of the challenge, the level of required concentration can be controlled. Once an individual is comfortable with a level, the difficulty can be increased to push the brain to concentrate harder.

Fine Motor Development: Motor skills are an essential learning phase in children that comes long before the ability to hold a pencil in hand. Puzzles can be used to speed up the learning process. When children are expected to grasp the objects and fit them into proper places such as in peg-hole puzzles, this helps with their ability to grasp, adjust and let go of objects. This also enhances their eye-hand coordination. Puzzles are a fun way for children to develop and refine their fine motor skills. When engaged in playing with puzzles, children are required to pick up, pinch and grasp pieces (some with small knobs, pegs or chunky pieces) and move them around, manipulating them into slots, sorting them and fitting them into the correct places.

Improve Social Skills: Puzzles are a great educational tool to enhance and promote cooperative play. As kids work together to complete a puzzle, they will discuss where a piece should go and why, take turns and share and support each other when handling frustration, then share the joy of finishing the puzzle.

Improve Self Esteem: The accomplishment of achieving a goal brings so much satisfaction to a child. Overcoming the challenges involved in solving a puzzle really gives them a sense of achievement and pride within themselves. It provides a boost to their self-confidence and self-esteem as this prepares them for other challenges in life.

Improve Productivity: Generally, solving problems in the form of puzzles is considered more interesting and is found to increase the overall productivity level. Puzzles can be used to make students learn, grasp and memorize subject area content with less effort involved on their part. The concepts are learned subconsciously while playing a mind involving the game.

Typically, games are considered as a way of seeking entertainment. However, puzzle games not only entertain but exercise the brain increasing its ability to learn and grow intelligently. As puzzles help increase the brain functions, use of puzzles for educating children or adults can prove to be a fruitful attempt. The level of learning that can be drawn out of puzzles is based upon how well the underlying problem of a puzzle is designed.

Puzzles are a fun educational toy that challenges young minds, teaching and preparing them early in life some very important life skills.
