During Red Ribbon Week, while you celebrate with students being drug free, have students practice their descriptive writing using this activity. This handout asks students to describe "Substance Abuse" as a place (could be imaginary) and "Being Drug Free" as a place. Students use imagery (5 senses) to describe each place and describe the plants, animals, ojbjects, etc. in each place. Then, students draw/decorate a picture/border for each final piece of writing. Also, attached are sheets with borders for them to complete their writing.
