This guidance lesson gives your students everything they need to know about drug and alcolohol prevention, just in time for Red Ribbon Week! Making healthy and safe choices are the focus in this lesson where knowledge is power! Through various activities, you will guide your students to: explore the history behind Red Ribbon Week, learn what substance abuse is, discuss why drug/alcohol prevention is so important at a young age, identify strategies to avoid substance abuse, make a plan for what to do if they see drugs or alcohol in school and more! This product also comes with optional homework and extension activities. It can be taught over 2-3 guidance lesson periods or streamlined down to one lesson. It can also be co-taught with the counselor beginning the lesson and the teacher following up and finishing the lesson.
