This product is a series of three interactive notebook packets for Pierce Brown's novel, Red Rising. Packets are for chapters 1-19, 20-33, and 34-44, and each activity/questions set typically spans 2-4 chapters.
Each packet includes:
Packet cover illustration assignment (different for each packet) with written explanation.
Interactive activities (drawings, letters, poems, vocabulary, predictions, etc.) on the left.
Cornell style notes/chapter questions on the right.
*The second and third packets also contain extra credit options, if desired.
Red Rising is a highly engaging novel that will have your kids begging for more. It is perfect for use in a Dystopian Society unit (how I used it), but would also work well for sci-fi units, or units covering slavery or caste systems within society. This novel allows for great discussions on a wide range of topics (slavery, death, sacrifice, justice, and strategy, just to name a few). It also has connections to classical mythology and other works of fiction, such as Ender's Game.
These packets are ready to go, without any prep other than the printing! And they are completely editable if you find you need to make any changes to fit with your group of students. You can have students work on the activities in class, or as homework, depending on the timeframe of your novel study. I would suggest taking multiple class periods for most of the chapter sets, and to give your students time to discuss answers, opinions, questions, etc. in class. Students also really liked sharing their packet interactive pages when they were proud of them!
Answers for all chapter questions are included.
