Communists have infiltrated the United States in the 1950s. The class must use their wits to determine who is guilty and who is innocent. The purpose of the game Red Scare is to simulate the wild accusations of Senator Joseph McCarthy and the House Un-American Activities Committee during the 1950s and also to simulate the paranoia following the accusations. Two members of the group will be communists who are trying to sell national secrets to the Soviet Union (Alger Hiss and Julius Rosenberg) . Other members of the group will be Senator Joseph McCarthy, an FBI agent, members of HUAC, a lawyer, and regular American citizens.
