Here is everything you need to run weekly Literature Circle groups for student-led discussions of the novel Red Scarf Girl by Ji-li Jiang. Each week for five weeks, students receive worksheets to help them prepare for sharing their role: Discussion Direction, Literary Luminary, Connector, Illustrator, and Researcher. Students rotate throughout the roles, which allows them to experience each role.
My students loved this activity, which greatly enhanced their understanding of the book. It also helped build community in the classroom.
