Reference Materials Task Cards: This resource includes 24 task cards and focuses on the five most common reference materials: the encyclopedia, dictionary, thesaurus, atlas, and almanac. All of the task cards contain a multiple choice question.
Most of the cards describe a scenario in which a person is looking up information, and students are required to choose which reference book would be most useful to the person looking up information.
The task cards match the concepts I present in my 112-slide Reference materials PowerPoint. Therefore, a few of the task cards also focus on how to use the pronunciation key and guide words in the dictionary, how to look up topics in an encyclopedia, and choosing the best word from a thesaurus entry.
An answer key and a recording sheet are also included. ***This set of task cards features a gamelike recording sheet. (Take a peek at the PREVIEW to see this unique option.)
