This pack includes three lesson plans and applicable resources for instruction on differentiating between and using reference sources. All lessons provide sub-objectives, teacher actions, student actions, checks for understanding, and modifications for differentiation. The lessons include partner and group work, games, choice boards, sorting activities, and flipbooks. With each lesson comes the necessary materials from which to refer, print, and use with students, including pictures, printables, and group work.
All of the lessons are centered around a Jazz music theme to give students a nonfiction topic to explore in-depth as they learn to navigate the informational text features. These lessons have been classroom-tested and work well with middle-grade students. These lessons work along with my Informational Text Features Lesson Plan Pack, Graphic Features Lesson Plan Pack, and Informational Text Features End-of-Unit Project!
