This culminating activity gives the student the opportunity to reflect on his/her process of writing as a result of an English course. Choosing 5 out of 9 questions,it requires the student to think about his/her individual writing in not only what was learned but also how the learning was applied to his/her writing. Also, the letter asks the student to acknowledge his/her weakness and what steps were taken to effectively complete the prescribed task. In addition, the student is asked to explain a piece of writing which he/she is most proud.
The student’s responses also give the teacher some feedback on the course and possible ideas of improvement. This activity is targeted for senior grades but can be adapted for junior grades as well.
