I use this reading activity to introduce my students to reflexive verbs. The story I wrote is about what Jose and his friends put on to prepare for a cold day of school. I set my students up with partners and ask them to work together to read the story and underline all the forms of poner they find. Then as a class we read the story and I identify all the forms of poner. Then we take a closer look and I ask what they notice that is different. Someone always notices the reflexive pronouns. Then we answer the questions about the verb ponerse that are at the bottom of the page, talk about how to form reflexive verbs and finally we work on the last question, Que te pones cuando hace frio? The students have to ask and answer the question individually and then out loud for the class. The next day we practice various forms of the same question. For instance Que te pones cuando hace calor? Que te pones en el invierno, etc. The idea is to get them to respond with the reflexive pronoun and poner with out thinking about it.
