Once we learn about reflexive verbs my students have a hard time deciding whether or not a verb should be reflexive. Often times they make every verb reflexive. I made this worksheet to help them learn when a verb is used reflexively. The worksheet has 18 fill in the blank sentences in Spanish and at the end of the sentence in parenthesis it gives the verb they need to fill in the blank in English. They need to identify the verb in Spanish and then read the sentence to decide if they should make the verb reflexive or not, then conjugate and fill in the blank. I prep this lesson by giving examples of reflexive and non reflexive sentences, then let the students work together in small groups to complete the worksheet. Then at the end of class we check our work to make sure we used our verbs correctly. As an extension you can have the students translate the 18 sentences if you feel they would benefit. When I give my test over the reflexive unit I then make sure to have a section that covers reflexive vs non-reflexive so they can prove to me they understand.
