The purpose of this exercise is to familiarize students with the core components of the Canadian Commonwealth Federation’s party platform in 1933. The Regina Manifesto's fourteen points are listed inside boxes with accompanying blanks, within which students will write summaries in their own words. Below the note-taking exercise are questions designed to enhance students’ understanding of socialism, its appeal during the Great Depression, and its relevance today. Finally, online sources are included to make the exercise more accessible. This exercise can be used as an in-class activity or homework assignment.
