Each of the five regions has a one-page description of the region's climate and activities with pictures. Following the readings is a one-page question sheet that asks 5 questions about each region. I use this as a jigsaw: Divide kids into 5 groups, each group is responsible for becoming an “expert” on their region. They answer the questions about their region and then present to the class. By the end of class, all the questions are answered because students are writing the answers as the groups are presenting; by the end of class, all students know about each region of Costa Rica.
