Product Description
Northeast Region, Regions of the United States

Your students will enjoy reading this complex informational text about the Northeast region, home of the largest city, the smallest state, and our nation's capital. Find out what makes the Northeast an interesting and unique region.

This is one of a series of five informational text packets I have created for teaching about the regions of the United States.

This a 6-page informational text packet that can be used as a "textbook chapter" when teaching about the Northeast region. While reading the complex text, your students will learn about the land, water, climate, products, natural resources, landmarks, and culture of the region. Also included is an Anticipation Guide is to be used as they read the text to guide their reading.

The Regions of the United States: Northeast, Complete Unit (5 Regions) that goes along with this packet includes the informational text, anticipation guide, study guide to practice labeling the states on the map, a unit test, and a scrapbook activity.

Because the United States can be divided into regions in many ways, please check to see if this version matches your standards. My materials marked “Five Regions” have the states divided this way:
Southeast: “Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia
Northeast: “Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont
Midwest: “Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin
Southwest: “Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas
West: Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming

If this version doesn’t match what you need, check my other listings for materials marked Four Regions.

While these materials were written to correspond to Florida's Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for 3rd grade Social Studies when I couldn't find anything else appropriate for my students, these regions units are also perfect for 4th, 5th, or 6th graders studying the five regions of the United States.
