Product Description
Regions of the United States Resource Packet download is full of materials for studying the five major regions of our country.
For map work, some of the regions have been subdivided. The packet has the regions divided as follows:

Northeast Region
~ New England States - Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont
~ Middle Atlantic States - Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania

Southeast Region - Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia

Middle West Region
~ Great Lakes States - Illinios, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin
~ Plains States - Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota

Southwest Region - Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas

West Region
~ Mountain States - Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming
~ Pacific States - Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington

Resources included in this packet are:

~8 blank states maps (great for a study sheet or a map project)
~8 maps showing cities and capital locations (for more of a challenge)
~8 map keys with the cities, capitals, and states labeled
~Cities of the U. S. population table showing all cities over 250,000
~5 region crossword puzzles with clues focusing on geography, history, resources, climate, and economy (40 words each - key included)
~a state abbreviations page to help decipher the crossword clues
~5 region word searches for states and their capitals (key included)
~8 map quilt templates for project work (this makes an attractive
bulletin board when students color the map, label the map, and draw what they learned about the region in each corner of the quilt pattern)

While I have used these resources with 4th graders, they can easily be adapted for grades 3 through 6.
