For this math center, the students are to pick a card. The card will tell the students how many flats, longs, and units to draw. The students are to draw what the card says exactly, and then find groups if 10 that they can bundle.
For example, one of the cards might say to draw 2 flats, 4 longs, and 13 units. The students will draw this and then see that they can group 10 of the units together and turn those pieces into 1 more long. After the students have regrouped all that they can, they are to redraw the picture.
This is perfect for helping the students to understand what it means to "carry the 1" and why they do it. The students can use base ten blocks to help them with this center.
This file also contains the same center with only longs and units (no flats).
