[NO PRINT & NO PREP / Telepractice & In-Person]
This set of 30 singular/plural noun pairs is sure to provide the practice needed for your students to achieve better grammatical accuracy! This product lends itself naturally to a variety of teaching strategies so that you are able to continuously work within each students’ zone of proximal development. Pairs are first presented individually, with corresponding labels (i.e. bear, bears) for expressive opportunities. If needed, students can use your models as you bring attention to the morphological ending (i.e. -s, -es, -ies) for the plural form within the corresponding text.
In addition to practicing targets expressively, this collection provides ample opportunity to help students increase awareness of targets through auditory prompts to locate (e.g. point to) the singular (e.g. “bear”) or plural (e.g. “bears” in words, phrases, or sentences (you decide!). For students who may experience low confidence due to frequent correction at home and/or in academic settings, receptive tasks may eliminate some of their negative self-talk (i.e. thinking they are always wrong and/or being corrected) by experiencing a different kind of success (receptively) with grammar.
Students will make the best progress when they are able to work on targets in all of the ways offered within this PowerPoint: visually (text), expressively, and receptively (discriminating how phonological changes impacts meaning/morphology).
