This is a lesson that clearly explains diagonals and their characteristics in different polygons. It begins with a definition of a diagonal and shows the diagonals in quadrilaterals. Included is an explanation about polygons that have angles greater than 180 degrees. There is a slide at the end of the presentation that can be printed for the students to complete as you progress through the lesson. The regular polygons included are a square, pentagon, hexagon, septagon/heptagon, octagon, decagon and dodecagon. By the end of the lesson, students have a clear understanding of diagonals and the characteristics (parallel, perpendicular, bisecting) of diagonals in regular polygons. There are 60 slides; however, each slide has custom animation. The presentation, with animation, is equivalent to many more total slides.
