As an adult, I cannot recall exactly how I was taught irregular verbs. Now that I am having to teach it, I can't tell you how confused I was when I heard past participle, perfect continuous, perfect progressive, etc. I asked, "Was I really taught this?" Since 70% of verbs are irregular, it's hard for students to understand them. Especially since irregular verbs do not follow a particular pattern like regular verbs. After extensive digging, I was able to find some that follow somewhat of a pattern, and compiled a color-coded chart, making it easier to learn.
My students use this chart in class when reading, and have a take-home version for extra practice. We are reading the novel Holes, and they get so excited when they see an irregular verb!
It is especially useful for someone learning the English language!
