Everything you need to have a Reindeer Day!
Pg. 3-7 Reindeer Antlers! – You have to start your day with these! The left antlers are on page 3 and the right antlers are on page 4. In order not to waste paper, there are enough for two students on each page. These need to be copied onto brown cardstock. I found my cardstock on line, however, in a pinch you can cut a strip of cardstock to glue behind the construction paper antlers to hold them up straight. I also used a green poster board that I cut to make bands to go around the student’s heads – it’s sturdy and it doesn’t rip. Copy off the holly leaves and berries and attach them to the front of your antlers.
Pg. 8-9 Reindeer Word Search – You have to solve your doubles math problems to figure out what colors to use on the word search. Each reindeer name is a different color.
Pg. 10 Reindeer Math Equations – solve the word problems by drawing, making 10, writing a number line, or in your own way. Write an equation.
Pg. 11 Reindeer ABC Order – The reindeer are ready to fly. Put the reindeer in order by numbering them 1-9 in the circles. This is a bit of a challenge since some of the reindeer names begin with the same letter. The students need to look closely at the underlined letters.
Pg. 12-14 Verb and Noun Sort! – Cut out the boxes, read the words on the boxes, decide if they are verbs or nouns, and then glue them onto the appropriate side of the verb/noun chart.
Pg. 15- 22 Reindeer Cause and Effect – Copy pages A and B back to back to form a book. Glue the cause pockets into the book by gluing only the sides and the bottom to form the pockets. Copy pages A and B back to back of the reindeer effect cards. Have the students write possible effects to the causes on the pockets. Write three effects for each cause. Place the reindeer into their homes.
Pg. 23-25 How to Train a Reindeer! – copy pages A and B back to back. Fold on the solid line and cut on the dotted lines. Write the sequence of how you would train a reindeer.
Pg. 26 Reindeer Adjectives – write 8 adjectives about the reindeer. Choose your favorites to use in your writing.
Pg. 27-35 My Special Flight with Rudolph… - A writing and craft activity. Copy off the patterns onto the appropriate colored construction paper. The reindeer’s head pattern needs to be centered onto the risograph or used as a pattern on the paper cutter to precut for the students. (I find this method easier then centering it on the risograph) Put the reindeer head on top of the writing paper and add a piece of brown construction paper to the back. Staple together. Attach the antlers, eyes, holly leaves, berries, and nose to the reindeer. Red glitter can be used on the nose. Two choices of writing paper styles.
Pg. 36-37 Magic Reindeer Noses labels – put 8 malt balls and one round cherry candy in a small plastic bag and add the label. I found my bags at Hobby Lobby and my candy in the bulk section at the grocery store. Hand this fun treat to your students as they are heading out the door for a great ending to a fund day!
Pg. 38 -44 Reindeer Mobile – A fun mobile to hang from your classroom ceiling or even from a tree! Copy off the patterns onto the correct construction paper. Cut out the half circle. Pull the corners down and together to form the cone. Staple or glue together. Add the antlers, eyes, nose, leaves, and berries. Punch holes where the dots are and add string to hang.
Pg. 45 Thanks and credits.
