This is a listening comprehension , vocabulary and writing exercise for high intermediate students including a full lesson plan with teacher's notes and answer key.Includes a warmer, listening activity and follow up writing and speaking activity. Students learn new phrasal verbs from the context and also practice their listening skills with comprehension questions. The suggested writing activity after learning the new expressions is a fun dialogue that the class can spend some time preparing before acting out in front of the class. . The warmer includes the introduction to the topic of cheating and some fun videos to get students talking about what they would do in hypothetical situations of witnessing cheating (which is a good opportunity to review the second conditional!). Students usually have a good laugh with this lesson.
Note* This can be modified for a lower intermediate level by using subtitles in the episode and by changing the fill-in-the-blanks to be missing only prepositions needed to complete the expressions.
Good for young adults or students who love watching Friends! You can treat the class and show the whole episode (if you have the DVDs, or you can easily download the episode) or show them relevant parts that you can get from YouTube. The episode is the twelfth from season one, called "The one with the dozen lasagnas".
