This is an 18 slide, highly animated, power point presentation on Religion – Key Figures – Jezebel. Each of the slides are editable so you can modify the slides if you need to.

King Solomon had entered many alliances with neighboring countries by marrying their princesses, a plan that lead to the weakening of his kingdom. Ahab did not learn from Solomon’s mistake that lead the Israelites into idolatry. Instead, Ahab married Jezebel, a Phoenician princess in the 9th century who worshipped the nature god Baal. Once in Israel, Jezebel continued a fanatical worship of Baal and enticed Ahab to do the same. Her citizens and the Yahweh prophet Elijah despised such actions and this created enormous conflict.

Losing and embarrassing contest with Elijah on Mt Carmel that saw the death of 900 of her false prophets, she swore an allegiance to kill Elijah. Later when she helped steal and murder for Naboth’s Vineyard, Elijah had had enough. Elijah confronted King Ahab about this brutal transgression. Ahab repented, and Elijah cursed Jezebel, saying she would be killed and dogs would eat her body, not leaving enough to bury.

No woman in the Bible is more identified with wickedness and treachery than Jezebel the Queen of Israel. Her name, has become so associated with evil that even today women who are deceitful are called a "Jezebel." In the centuries since Jezebel’s death, she’s become legendary. Jezebel's name has been used for thousands of years to describe cunning, ruthless and reprehensible women. Some believe she typifies evil and her name has also become synonymous with idolaters, prostitutes and sorcerers. There are numerous references to her in popular culture, none of them flattering.
