This is a 14 slide, highly animated, power point presentation on Religion – Heroes of the Old Testament – Caleb. Each of the slides are editable so you can modify the slides if you need to.
Some Bible scholars think Caleb or his tribe came from a pagan people who were assimilated into the Jewish nation. Caleb's name means "raging with canine madness." His story appears in the book of Numbers, after the Israelites had escaped Egypt and arrived at the border of the Promised Land.
When Moses sent 12 spies into Canaan to scout the territory, only he and Joshua reported the land was ripe for the taking. Note: He was a Gentile who represented the tribe of Judah, from which came Jesus Christ, savior of the world.
Caleb’s story is tied Joshua. Both are 2 Israelite men whose stories offer an example of faithful commitment to the Lord. Both men came out of Egypt with the Israelites through the Red Sea and into the wilderness and both were selected along with 10 other men to explore the Promised Land and give a report to Moses and the people as they prepared to possess it.
Caleb served the Lord and Joshua until his death. He was a man who continuously put his faith in God to handle the dangers around him. After the death of Moses 40 years later, Joshua led the people across the Jordan River into the Promised Land. Caleb received an inheritance in the Promised Land in his old age (Joshua 14) then he conquered the territory around Hebron, defeating the giant sons of Anak: Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai.
