This is a 15 slide, highly animated, power point presentation on Religion – The Apostles of Jesus – Andrew. Each of the slides are editable so you can modify the slides if you need to.

We find the names of the 12 apostles of Jesus the Christ in: Matthew 10:2-4, Mark 3:14-19 and Luke 6:13-16. “And when day came, he called his disciples and chose from them twelve, whom he named apostles: Simon, whom he named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot, and Judas [also called Thaddeus or Jude] the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.” (ESV)

Each of these men sacrificed everything to follow the Lord. In Luke 18:28, their spokesman Peter said, "We have left all we had to follow you!" (NIV) They gave up family, friends, homes, jobs, and all things familiar to answer Christ's call. They formed the foundation of the Christian church, initiating a movement that steadily spread across the face of the earth.

John the Baptist’s mission was to point people to the Messiah. Andrew, was an early follower of John’s ministry who then became a follower of Jesus. Andrew was the brother of Simon Peter. Once Andrew met Jesus he introduced to Peter to Jesus. As Peter’s brother and fellow apostle, he was content to step into the background as his boisterous brother became a leader among the apostles and in the early church. The Gospels don't tell us a great deal about Andrew, but by reading between the lines we find a passionate follower of the Lord and one who became a remarkable fisher of men.

Andrew, was crucified by the Roman Proconsul Aegeus after his wife accepted the Messiah in Patras. It is not recorded in the Bible, but church tradition says Andrew was crucified as a martyr on a Crux Decussata, or X-shaped cross. The X shaped cross because it was more tortuous. It is ironic that Aegeus is struck dead by God before he makes it home from the crucifixion.
