This is a 15 slide, highly animated, power point presentation on The Easter Story – The Men Who Tried Jesus - Herod Antipas. Each of the slides are editable so you can modify the slides if you need to.
The political atmosphere during the time of Christ life on earth was complicated and confusing, most of it tied to the atmosphere of mistrust that existed between the Jews and Roman government. From the time of resettlement when Cyrus the Great gave the Jews permission to return to Jerusalem from the Babylonian Exile, the atmosphere became more and more charged.
Once Rome came into power they preferred not to impose their rule directly. So, they appointed a number of rulers who were allowed to control the territories as client kings of Rome. One such family was the Herod family. These Herod’s were part of a dynasty, a partly hereditary, partly appointed line of Idumean rulers over Israel during the days of the Roman Empire. They were mostly evil, immoral and corrupt men who were in many cases mere puppets of Rome.
The Bible refers to “Herod” several times in the New Testament which is a bit confusing. It was Herod Antipas, who was the puppet king of Rome over Judea during the life of Christ. It was he who did nothing to stop the execution of Christ.
The presentation covers the following:
Herod the Great
Herod Agrippa I
Herod Agrippa II
Antipas & the Trial of Jesus
