This offering is a collection of all 25 of my parables. This is going to be Part One in a three part book titled You, Too, Can Be a Christian (And a Social Conservative . . . or Not !)
According to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language a parable is: “A simple story illustrating a moral or religious lesson.” In a must read book for all Christians, And God Said What? An Introduction to Biblical Literary Forms by Margaret Nutting Ralph, Ms. Ralph adds: “A parable is told to personally criticize the person to whom the parable is told, to raise that person’s consciousness to a new level of understanding, to call that person to conversion or reform.”
My stories are not fiction. They are histories. Generally, the person I’m criticizing is me. Hence, I’m talking to myself . . . out loud. But if the shoe happens to fit . . .
Hopefully all of our histories have raised our consciousness to new levels of understanding. That’s the essence of acquiring wisdom. Are we willing to reform?
