The students will be asked to create an Ad to represent the special job of a religious leader.
Once the students have learned about the religious leaders in each religion (Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism), the students will name the job title of each religious leader example: In Judaism, the religious leader is a Rabbi. The students will also have to list the place that the religious leader works example the place of worship associated with the religion and give a detailed description of the job (role).
I have included an introductory note to let students know what they will be learning. I have included a checklist to show the students what to include for each category. There are 3 categories: Job title, Job description and work place. For each category, I have broken down the important points to include.
For example, 1. Job Title: -what is the name of the religious leader.
2. Job description: -what do they wear?, -what do they use?, -what do they say? and-what special things do they
3. Work place: -write the name of the place of worship.
I have included a planning sheets for the students to use to write their findings or as a rough draft.
The students will be given colored paper to create their ads. I glue their colored paper Ad onto a rectangular shaped newspaper (cut out from a regular newspaper).
*N.B. I make sure to discuss with the students how to make an Ad appealing (attract someones eye) for example, what kind of words/phrases to use and what colors.
* N.B. This package does include a rubric to assess the students final product. The rubric will be used to assess: content, neatness and time management.
