Reminder Booklets for Reading, Writing and Research

I know you get the same questions over and over. Students tend to take the easy way out and ask the teacher to tell them what to do, rather than think it out themselves. These booklets allow them to take more responsibility for their own learning. Each one offers quick reminders for the skills they need to be successful in a secondary English class.

In the file you will find a reminder booklet for:

1. Writing: this booklet focuses on the revision and editing process, and reminds students about the important elements of structure, idea development, organization & coherence, diction and syntax.

2. Reading: this booklet focuses on the skills students need to be active readers. It includes a page of close reading reminders for each of the following: fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

3. Research: this booklet focuses on the skills students need to research properly (MLA format with the latest updates). There is a page devoted to finding credible sources, paraphrasing, using quotations, in-text citations, works cited and formatting.

*Each booklet comes with an option for a color or black and white cover. All instructions on the sheets are editable.
