This is a 22 slide PowerPoint depicting (16) important pieces of art created during the Renaissance period (from 1350-1600). This PowerPoint was developed for Global I, 9th grade history, but can be used in art class as well. The slides focus on works of art by Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci along with one slide each on Botticelli, Perugino, Raphael, Giotto, and Mategna. Each slide of artwork shows the piece first. Then, the name of the artwork comes up and finally the name of the artist appears. In this way the slides can be used as a study tool for students. If a smartboard is available, students can write the name of the artwork and artist prior to the information being displayed to give them practice spelling the information correctly. After the students are familiar with the pieces, mix up the slides to make naming the work of art and artist more challenging. There are also slides discussing key aspects of Renaissance art: Perspective, Atmospheric Perspective, Focal Point, Foreshortening, and Chiaroscuro.
