Create Currency for the City of Florence
The year is 1500. and your students are artisans who lived in Florence during the Renaissance. They have recently been hired to create a currency to reflect the culture and achievements of Florence during the Renaissance. Your students will love this project! Even though their illustrations and writing must be based on evidence, there is a lot of room for creativity. The product includes a detailed direction sheet with seven requirements, suggested topics and a one-page rubric. The product also includes a two-page chart to help students understand the currency of the United States Dollar and a teacher answer key.
Travel Brochure or Video of Florence
The year is 1500 and your students live in the beautiful city of Florence during the Renaissance. Your students come across a “Help Wanted” ad in the Classified section. Tours & Co. is in need of an experienced, knowledgeable and articulate tour guide to teach tourists about the city of Florence during the Renaissance. The responsibility of a tour guide is to lead a group of tourists to various important sites and share information about the culture and history of each site. In lieu of a formal interview, Tours & Co. has requested that job candidates submit either an original tour guide video or an original travel brochure. The product includes an introduction, required topics, a description of steps, Photo Story directions for the video choice, and two rubrics.
People of the Renaissance: Four Projects
Students will choose to complete a project on a famous historical figure from the Renaissance. They can create a movie trailer, scrapbook, farewell speech or illustrated epic poem. Each project choice comes with an introduction and a description of requirements. My students absolutely loved completing this project since they had choice and room for creativity. I loved assigning this project since they incorporated historical evidence and practiced their critical thinking skills. The product includes a list of 10 famous Renaissance people, an explanation and list of requirements for each project and four rubrics.
Create the Book Jacket for a Famous Renaissance Person
One of the best ways to learn about historical figures is by reading biographies. Your students are going to design the book jacket of a Renaissance person’s biography. A book jacket includes the front cover, spine and back cover of the book. This is a project that gives your students the opportunity to be creative, but their writing must be based on historical evidence. The product includes a list of Renaissance people to choose from, an explanation and list of specific requirements and topics and a rubric.
Festival of Achievements: The Renaissance
The Festivals and Events Committee will be hosting the first annual festival to celebrate the achievements of the Renaissance. All aspects of the festival have been inspired by those achievements. The purpose of the festival is to teach people about the achievements and to celebrate and enjoy them. The committee is looking to hire a small team of experts to plan and carry out the festival. The product includes an explanation, a list of specific requirements and topics and a rubric.

People of the Renaissance made many significant and important achievements. It’s time to celebrate and honor them! As the event managers, the task of your students is to plan an award ceremony for the achievements of the Renaissance. Create a Newspaper Project of the Renaissance
This project gives students the opportunity to delve deep into many aspects of the Renaissance. Students will pretend to be journalists who live in Florence. Their task is to capture the major accomplishments and achievements of the Renaissance. While there is a lot of room for creativity and an opportunity for originality, students will base their information on historical evidence. Students will include the following components in their newspaper: title, news stories, review of artwork, interview, advertisement, Dear Abby, and an obituary. The product comes with a detailed explanation of each component required in the newspaper and a detailed rubric.
Create a Board Game: Renaissance
This project is a really fun and creative way for students to show off what they learned about the Renaissance. Students will create the rules and directions for the game, create the required pieces, and create a colorful and detailed board game. The product includes detailed steps, required topics and a rubric.
