This video worksheet allows students learn about the life and philosophy of Niccolò Machiavelli. The video clip is seven minutes long, but it is packed full of information that will keep your students engaged.
This video worksheet works great as a “Do Now Activity” or as a complement to any lecture or lesson plan on philosophy or government. The worksheet helps students understand Machiavellianism and his theory on virtue versus effective leadership. The video is great for visual learners and helps break up class time so students are more focused throughout the entire period. My students love these short engaging videos.
All you have to do is hand out the worksheet to the students and play the video from the following website below. You can also download the video right to your computer from the website.
*WARNING* From 4:50-5:10 there is a description of brutality and violence, including castration. I suggest watching the video all the way through to ensure that this will not impact your specific classroom negatively or if skipping through the 20 seconds may be feasible.
The worksheet is labeled (Niccolò Machiavelli in 7 Minutes)
Students watch the video and answer the questions on the worksheet. The worksheet includes 10 questions and has an answer sheet for the teacher. A QR code is also included for students. I recommend pausing the video at times to allow students to reflect and answer questions. The worksheet can be used to generate classroom discussion or be used as homework. Feel free to modify this assignment as needed for your classes.
