Student Talk Show: Famous Renaissance People

Your students will work in groups of four to plan and present a talk show. The talk show that your students will create will include the host who will ask the deep and engaging questions and three guests who will answer in an interesting and detailed way. One student will represent the host and the three remaining students should each choose to represent a historical figure from the Renaissance. Your students will improve upon skills such as public speaking, collaboration, writing and research. The product includes an introduction, a list of ten historical figures to choose from, an explanation of the structure of the talk show, a rubric, a list of eight sample questions, a planning guide and an editing checklist.

Create Currency for the City of Florence

The year is 1500. and your students are artisans who lived in Florence during the Renaissance. They have recently been hired to create a currency to reflect the culture and achievements of Florence during the Renaissance. Your students will love this project! Even though their illustrations and writing must be based on evidence, there is a lot of room for creativity. The product includes a detailed direction sheet with seven requirements, suggested topics and a rubric and currency templates (full and half-sheet options). The product also includes a two-page chart to help students understand the currency of the United States Dollar and a teacher answer key.

The year is 1500 and your students live in the beautiful city of Florence during the Renaissance. Your students come across a “Help Wanted” ad in the Classified section. Tours & Co. is in need of an experienced, knowledgeable and articulate tour guide to teach tourists about the city of Florence during the Renaissance. The responsibility of a tour guide is to lead a group of tourists to various important sites and share information about the culture and history of each site. In lieu of a formal interview, Tours & Co. has requested that job candidates submit a travel brochure. The product includes an introduction, required topics, a description of steps, a rubric and brochure templates.

People of the Renaissance: Four Projects

A book jacket includes the front cover, spine and back cover of the book. This is a project that gives your students the opportunity to be creative, but their writing must be based on historical evidence. The product includes a list of Renaissance people to choose from, an explanation of specific requirements, topics, a rubric and a book jacket template.

Festival of Achievements: The Renaissance

The Festivals and Events Committee will be hosting the first annual festival to celebrate the achievements of the Renaissance. All aspects of the festival have been inspired by those achievements. The purpose of the festival is to teach people about the achievements and to celebrate and enjoy them. The committee is looking to hire a small team of experts to plan and carry out the festival. Your students will design a brochure explaining the aspects of the festival. The product includes an explanation, a list of specific requirements, topics, a rubric and brochure templates.

Create a Newspaper for the Renaissance

This project gives students the opportunity to delve deep into many aspects of the Renaissance. Students will pretend to be journalists who live in Florence. Their task is to capture the major accomplishments and achievements of the Renaissance. While there is a lot of room for creativity and an opportunity for originality, students will base their information on historical evidence. Students will include the following components in their newspaper: title, news stories, review of artwork, interview, advertisement, Dear Abby, and an obituary. The product comes with a detailed explanation of each component required in the newspaper, a rubric and newspaper templates.

Create a Board Game About the Renaissance

This project is a really fun and creative way for students to show off what they learned about the Renaissance. Students will create the rules and directions for the game, create the required pieces, and create a colorful and detailed board game.
