This activity includes two great articles about Wind Energy and Wave Energy. The students first read the articles and answer comprehension and analyses questions. The questions are designed to encourage critical thinking and higher order analyses and application skills. In a follow-up activity, students write a convincing and evidence-based letter to their state governor arguing for their state to utilize one or both of the renewable energy types. This article is a great extension to an energy unit or to a weather and atmosphere unit. The article can be used for project research, literacy groups, individual DEAR or homework reinforcement.
