This renewable and nonrenewable energy resource helps students with concepts presented in 4-PS3 Energy and MS-PS3 Energy NGSS. This is a set of 9 reading passages and a corresponding activity to help students gain a better understanding of energy sources. They can read the passages independently or with a partner, record the type of energy they are reading about, tell whether it is renewable or nonrenewable, and list advantages and disadvantages of the source of energy. Then students can share out jigsaw style with their peers. These passages are different lengths and can be used to differentiate. They are aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards.
